VAT returns
VAT returns for small businesses, prepared and filed for you
Your VAT return is prepared from digital records and filed with HMRC ahead of the deadline, so you know the amount and the date to pay. VAT returns are quoted individually on WhatsApp.
What you get
Filed ahead of the deadline
Your return is prepared and filed so it reaches HMRC by the deadline. The payment deadline is the same date, so you are told the amount early.
Making Tax Digital records
Making Tax Digital for VAT requires VAT-registered businesses to keep records digitally and file returns using software. Your records are kept digitally and your returns are filed through compatible software.
Figures that match your books
Your return is built from your categorised records. The VAT on your return traces back to the transactions behind it.
Clear amount and pay date
You are told what VAT is due and when it must reach HMRC. No working it out from the portal.
Penalty points kept in check
HMRC charges a £200 penalty once late returns reach the points threshold. Filing on time keeps you away from it.
A quote that fits your business
Your fee is quoted individually on WhatsApp. It can sit alongside bookkeeping, payroll, and accounts and tax returns.

When do I need to register for VAT?
You must register when your total taxable turnover for the last 12 months goes over £90,000, or when you expect it to go over £90,000 in the next 30 days. You can also choose to register voluntarily if your turnover is lower. If you are close to the threshold, message us on WhatsApp and we will talk through your next step. When is my VAT return due?
The online deadline is usually one calendar month and 7 days after the end of the accounting period, which is usually 3 months long. This is also the payment deadline, and the payment must reach HMRC by then. The deadline applies even if it falls on a weekend or bank holiday. Source: https://www.gov.uk/vat-returns/deadlines
Do I need to file a VAT return if I have no VAT to pay?
Yes. If you are registered for VAT, you must submit a VAT Return even if you have no VAT to pay or reclaim. A late nil return still earns a penalty point. Does Making Tax Digital for VAT apply to my business?
It applies to all VAT-registered businesses, which must keep VAT records digitally and file returns using software, unless HMRC has agreed an exemption. We keep your digital records and file through compatible software. What happens if I file my VAT return late?
Each late return earns a penalty point. For quarterly returns the threshold is 4 points, and when you reach it you receive a £200 penalty, with a further £200 for each late return while you stay at the threshold. The threshold is 2 points for annual returns and 5 for monthly returns. Source: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/penalty-points-and-penalties-if-you-submit-your-vat-return-late
What happens if I pay my VAT late?
A first late payment penalty applies once a payment is 16 or more days overdue, calculated at 3% of the VAT you owe at day 15. If the payment is 31 or more days overdue, the first penalty also includes 3% of what is still owed at day 30. A second penalty then builds daily at 10% a year on the outstanding balance.
